Venice International Film Festival 2014 Winners

Venice and Telluride are done. and we have the list of Venice winners. And Toronto International Film festival and Deauville American Film festival are on. Excited season indeed. And I'm proud two of Indonesian movies at Venice are the winner. The Look of Silence by Jopshua Oppenheimer and Maryan by Sidi Saleh. And The Look of Silence is the most talked about about in Venice Hollywood. I'm proud to be Indonesia.

Among the films eligible that have played well with critics are Alejandro G Inarritu’s Birdman; Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Look Of Silence; Andrei Konchalovsky’s The Postman’s White Nights; Italian titles Il Giovane Favoloso, Anime Nere and Hungry Hearts; China’s Red Amnesia; Roy Andersson’s A Pigeon Sat On A Branch Reflecting On Existence; and Ramin Bahrani’s 99 Homes. After a scandal in 2012 when the jury was unable to award the Golden Lion to its first choice, rules were tweaked last year to add a Grand Jury Prize. But only in exceptional cases can a film win more than one prize; and whoever wins the Golden Lion can win that, and only that, award. See below for winners updated as they are announced:

TIFF -- 15 Movies That Will Attract Buyers

Since I agree with THR list, I'm going to post the same. And Yay, this is the year of women movies. Like it. From Chastain to Kristen Wiig. I cant wait. Love them. These movies haven't got any distributor yet, especially US distributor. But since they looks powerful, hoping I;m right about them will get 2014 release.

High-profile titles that could spark deals out of the Venice and Telluride festivals include the Andrew Garfield drama 99 Homes, Mia Wasikowska's Madame Bovary and two Al Pacino films: BarryLevinson's The Humbling and David Gordon Green's Manglehorn. One twist: Because of TIFF's new rule banning Telluride titles from playing the first weekend, the fest is allowing private-buyers screenings the first weekend to avoid a logjam the following week.

Before We Go (CAA/WME/Sierra)

Stars: Evans, Alice Eve

Buzz: This dramedy, which revolves around two strangers stuck together during a long night in NYC, marks the directorial debut of Evans -- aka Captain America -- making it a definite curiosity.

Tomorrow is the first day of Toronto International Film festival, i really can;t wait. This is the biggest indie film festival with very simple red carpet. not like the fancy Venice or Cannes. they are a bit simple, but not as simple as Telluride and Sundance. I cant with almost 400 movies screening this year, TIFF is the biggest film festival this year. And the list is very tempting. There's a lot of movies that I want to watch. Hopefully I can get a chance too watch it sooner than later. TIFF is more to find a decent distributor for some movies, if the movies is great enough they will get 2014 release and ready to race in award race. There's a lot of movie I want to watch, and I want Still Alice to get 2014 realease. I want Julianne Moore to get back to Oscar Race and win it. She deserves it more than anyone. More than Amy Adams and even Jessica Chastain.

The festival will open with Robert Downey Jr's The Judge and will close with Alan Rickman's A little Chaos. Mr Severus Snape is directing!. This is the full list and this the schedule

One again fall film festival that has annouced their Line Up. It's London Film Festival, with Telluride Film Festival has ended with very satisfaction reviews with on what might happen on Oscar race next year, We will have London Film Festival that will happen on October. Some movies that had the first release on Cannes Film Festival has remind stable in Telluride. Like Foxcather, and I cant wait to watch Birdman and The Imitation Game.

Anyway back to London Film Festival,they have announced Fury and The Foxcatcher before. The Imitation Game will open the festival and Fury will close it. and this is the full list.

Lucy -- Review (2014)

I have been waiting for this movie for like forever, and finally I watched it last week. I like Scarjo, alot. And I still want The Black Widow to have her own franchise. she is bad ass, she is the most amazing agent in SHIELD. and she is the perfect example of feminist. So when the first time I watched the trailer the first thought that came to my mind was "want it in my eyes, now!"

surprise I kind like it, even some missed the point. But i like it, but just because it's a strong movie about woman. It's a bad ass movie with very good choreographer. My sister loves this movie, because Black widow is in it. lol. Some of the critics who said this is silly movie, I do't understand why. because Luc Besson became very creative? or because it's a movie a bout woman who can take down men easily? Scarlett is very terrific in this movie, she proves it that she can do anything, from action to drama. she is that good. The effect is great, this could be very big movie. But like I said before, they lost the point.

This movie is totally better than what i expected, this fun movie. I was afraid I would be disappinted. But when I finished I like it, it;s not as horrible or as silly as they say it. it's very entertaining. Not everyone can watch this movie without whining and complaining. Not very much thought provoking or complex but you should enjoy it so much. Just watch it.

what I like about this movie is how this movie was on the top gross rating, beat Hercules. I'm happy because woman movie can rule the cinema once again.

From very small film festival, Telluride has been this big film festival with tons of great movies which ready to be Oscar contender for next year. And this year is no difference. With very most talked Indie like Birdman, The Imitation Game , Wild, and more. Telluride has release the Line up.

very excited to see Wild, Reese Witherspom is back!!! I want Madame Bovary, i want Birdman, I want Foxcatcher, Mommy, I want them all. I cant wait to see the year where I can attend those movie festival. My life will be made. A girl can dream, right?

The Look of Silence -- Indonesia at Venice Film Festival

This year two of Indonesia movies are going to Venice. Short movie by Sidi Saleh and Indie by Joshua Oppenheimer produced by Werner Herzog. I haven't heard about Maryam by Sidi Saleh, but I heard the good news about The Look of Silence. They got standing ovation at Venice. Some of the critics even say it is the top five movie this year. The movie is about Indonesian killing of 1965-1966. It's very sensitive subject for this country, its a documentary movie. I hear it is a sequel Oppenheimer's previews Indonesian movie which got Oscar nom, The Act of Killing. I have watched The Act of Killing and it;'s very good movie. very bad ass and I like it. Not only because its based on my country but because it's good movie. Since it's produced by Werner Herzog he and his team has pushes it into so many festival just like The Act of Killing. I can't wait to watch this movie, they got rave reviews. And hoping many Indonesia film makers will get the Indonesia of doing something like this. I mean we have great film makers. But look at The Raid and The Act of Killing it's Indonesia's sensitive subject. but they made it into everywhere. I read The Look of Silence will have 2015 release, hoping for 2014 US premiere tho so they can push it into Award Season and release it here sooner. Finger cross. I love my country being mentions. And more people want to make people here and about Indonesia. we have amazing history.
