Mission Impossible V (2015)

So I have finally found a time to go to cinema in the middle of very busy internship schedule that drives me insane. But that's another story, so today now i have finally watched Mission Impossible 5. Having seen the previous four 'Mission Impossible' films, I have to admit that none of them impressed me to the degree that I had hoped. I guess my expectations for action thrillers centering on secret agents were set too high because I saw the 'Bourne' trilogy and Daniel Craig's James Bond films first. The first three 'MI' films all seemed a little too slow, cheesy or convoluted on my first viewing. The fourth one was pretty good, even if the story does feel a little forgettable.

The central focus of Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation revolves around a mystery group called the "Syndicate" who basically work like an anti-IMF, with a sole focus of spreading terrorist attacks around the world, while working to establish a sense of new world order and overseeing the dismantling of the real IMF. Besides this group standing in their way, Ethan and his crew must also deal with Director Alan Hunley (played brilliantly by Alec Baldwin) who is bound and determined to think that Ethan is crazy and that the Syndicate is just in his imagination. Because of his doubts with Ethan, Hunley brings up his concerns to the oversight committee and it is decided that after the events of Ghost Protocol, which saw landmarks like the Russian Kremlin destroyed, that the IMF be dissolved effective immediately.

Ant-Man (2015)

All the movies in the MCU have a little comedy in them. With the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy most of the movies however rely heavily on the action to pull people in. Ant-Man is much more relatable to Guardians of the Galaxy from that point. The jokes come flying from everyone, most notably Michael Peña.

I admit before even hearing about this movie I had no idea who Scott Lang was. To me, Ant-Man was Hank Pym, and that's all I knew. Although it was great to be introduced to a new character, I thought it was amazing that hey pay homage to the original Ant-Man with a flashback of Hank in the suit; also for the ride was Wasp; which of course everyone freaked out about.

Terminator Genisys (2015)

The Terminator is back with a strange title, Genisys. It is clear that they are eager to continue the franchise however they do not know how. Terminator Genisys shows promise to the visionary world of James Cameron but it is hampered by non-stop big and loud action scenes, it does not stop to develop the story further. That said, it still capture the interesting premise of time travel. It is better than Terminator Salvation but that is not saying much. What you get here is series of thrilling and big CGI heavy action set piece that propel the story forward.

I'm not sure what film the critics have watched, but as someone who queued all day to be one of the first to see T2, Genisys ticks all the Terminator boxes, time travel, morphing androids, liquid metal, Judgement Day, one liners, explosions, car chases, strong female lead, technology and prescient thoughts on handing over power over our lives to machines. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to his signature role as the T800 at various ages, the CGI rendering of him as the "original" model is fantastic.

Spy (2015)

I was really surprised by "Spy." I was surprised because it's billed as a comedy, and I actually laughed out loud, and there was laughter in the theater throughout the film. I can't remember the last time I went to see a new release comedy and that happened. The humor in "Spy" is surprisingly gentle and light hearted. That's surprising because the filmmakers apparently felt it was necessary to build a violent, obscene movie around jokes that a ten-year-old could enjoy while watching the movie with her grandmother.

I thought this movie was fantastic, it started solid with some really good jokes but once Susan (Melissa McCarthy)finds her confidence then so does the movie. The jokes come fast and mostly hit the target. The supporting cast were superb, especially Statham who sends up not just every character he has played since snatch but basically every bad ass macho man we have seen since the 80's.

Jurassic World (2015)

From its very first frame, there is no denying that Jurassic World is an absolutely enormous movie. The Jurassic Park films have always been big-budget affairs, but the size of Jurassic World takes the series to a whole new level in terms of scope. Every single scene looks hugely expensive with massive sets, tons of extras, endless special effects shots, and lots of attention payed to even the smallest of technical detail. This easily could have been one of those sequels that falls apart from being bloated by its own excess (like almost every other big budget sequel of the past decade or so), but director Colin Trevorrow keeps the movie together. It's not better than the first one, it definitely a fun movie. and not disappointed at all

First, to all of those saying this movie is so predictable, duh its a dinosaur movie, you can only do so much with it. Do you want all of the dinosaurs to just remain in their cages and no action happens? Second, those same people who say that the raptors being "good guys" are dumb, you didn't want predictability so why did you want the raptors who are the main villains of the first movie and also in the second and third movies to be villains again? I thought it was a nice welcomed change.

Avenger : Age of Ultron (2015)

Finally the long awaited sequel to the Avengers have arrived and let me start out my saying what a show! The excitement and expectations were so high for this one and it did not disappoint!

Every single addition to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe stands to culminate in an epic team-up otherwise known as the Avengers. The problem with this is that there is a lot of build-up involved. Three years have passed since the last Avengers film, that’s about five films so far. There’s a lot of pressure riding on writer/director Joss Whedon to deliver what he did last time that grossed Disney and Marvel over one billion dollars worldwide. I mean, let’s face it; we know it’s going to be awesome. But just how awesome will it be, and will it live up to our already sky-high expectations?

One thing that I feel as this movie's disappointment is those promotional clips, and early shed details have showed so much that it feels that there's only little surprise left in the story elements. Although I should say the Hawkeye twist is a neat one. The other thing that feels weird is how Natasha Romanoff is placed in connection to previous movies. She's with Bruce Banner here, when instead we saw her implying something with Hawkeye at the first Avengers movie, and last year with Steve Rogers in The Winter Soldier.

Insurgent (2015)

Insurgent, based on the second book in the science fiction series of young-adult novels by Veronica Roth, takes us back days after the events of the first film. Divergent director Neil Burger is replaced by Robert Schwentke and so are the screenwriters. It's too early to say if this was a bad move, and again, it doesn't matter. Here's why: Insurgent is basically a rehash of Divergent but with added visual effects and a bit more violence than expected in a YA film. In other words, if you've missed the first film, Schwentke brings you up to speed with the post-apocalyptic remains of a dystopian Chicago. Tris (Shailene Woodley) is haunted by the massacre of her parents. Along with her boyfriend and instructor Four (Theo James), brother Caleb (Ansel Elgort) and fellow survivor Peter (Miles Teller), Tris must do all she can to outrun, outgun and ultimately outsmart forces sent by main antagonist Jeanine (Kate Winslet).

The movie is good if you haven't read the book. I am really disappointing and OK, I know the book is always better than the movie, but the first one was almost the same as a book (perfect movie it was). This one, however, was not. I think I like the first director more because this one throw out some really important scenes and the end is a lot different and I hate thing that the relationship between Tris and Four in the movie is perfect but in the book it has its ups and downs. This movie has a lot of special effect that gave a headache. The first one was perfect adaption, but now, just MEHH

Spongebob : Sponge Out Of Water (2015)

I was a big fan of the show when i was younger and would watch it every morning before school, so i went into this film expecting to see the same type of humour that made the show so great. And this film captured the overall tone of the show and really felt like a long episode. Now, this film is definitely for kids now and those who watched it when they were younger, I would think not too many other people would enjoy it as much if you weren't familiar with the original show.

When a diabolical pirate above the sea played by Antonio Banderas, steals the secret Krabby Patty formula, SpongeBob and his nemesis Plankton must team up in order to get it back. SpongeBob Sponge Out of Water was for me a pleasant surprise while watching the film. I didn't had much expectations for the movie, but i have to say i was pleasantly surprised. The movie had a good mix between classic cartoon style and CG. When i first saw the trailer i thought the film would be nothing but CG spongebob characters.

Cinderella (2015)

I'm not going to lie. I was not all that excited for this movie. In fact, I was much more anticipating paying for the ticket just so I could check out the new Frozen short that brought back a sense of nostalgia to the older days of Disney and Pixar where they would show a short mini-feature film before the main feature.

It was a big pawn for Disney to remake their animated properties to live-action since almost all of them had sunk to notoriety. (Hello Maleficent and Alice in Wonderland.) And it was also a big pawn for the audiences to get invested in these stories that had been told better. So, with that in mind, I lessened my hopes for the 2015 Kenneth Branagh version of Cinderella, since the source material had been beaten to death many times; heck, Disney previously released a version of Cinderella in Into the Woods, two months prior its US release. But that pessimism had all faded when I was so blown away by what the film turned out.

Jupiter Ascending (2015)

The plot of this flick is about the discovery of Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis). Turns out, she's royalty in the universe, and what a giant universe it is: various 'Houses' are on planets throughout the system, and the House Abraxas has its eye on Jupiter Jones - turns out she is the reincarnation of the mother to the children of the throne James D'Arcy, Tuppence Middleton, and Redmayne. But she's eyed to be killed for reasons that involve things with the Earth and populations and things that I shouldn't go into for too many useless spoilers.

he plot. It's everywhere. The story is all over the place. One minute, it's a comedy. The other, it's a serious Game of Thrones-like kingdom drama. Another minute, It becomes Modern Family. It's everywhere! The plot has no focus whatsoever. It feels like someone grabbed some deleted scenes of his favorite TV shows and put them together on his laptop. Even Memento, though the non-linear narrative is confusing, it still had a simple storyline. Even Inception had focus, despite it's big scale. But those two were great movies. Jupiter was not.

Hobbit : Battle of Five Armies

I know it's been a very long time since I posted something. I just finished my exam and all. Yay for me. So let's start with Hobbit III

"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" is the final chapter of Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" trilogy, and this particular film tells the last three or so chapters of J.R.R. Tolkien's book of the same name.

For those who are fans of the book, one thing that will quickly stand out is that the movie takes great liberty with the book, inasmuch as Peter Jackson has made an entire feature length film out of a story that was told in a relatively succinct fashion by Tolkien. Jackson's work expounds on the story that Tolkien left us with, going into much more detail with character development and the story of the battle of the armies itself in this film.

That being said, though, the movie does all of this in a way that is true to the original source material. I didn't feel as though I was watching something that was untrue to Tolkien, but instead a movie that was made to put meat on the skeleton of a story that Tolkien had left us with in the final chapters of "The Hobbit".

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014)

Disappointed by this film. I am not the big fan of this franchise, I don't like seeing kids killing each other and all. But I like the first two movies.They kept my attention, with plot and performances intriguing and action-packed enough to get from one scene to the next without a dull moment. . Another movie with disgusting trend, split the last franchise to be 2 parts. WTH. I like the trailer, I was blown away by Jennifer Lawrence and Julianne Moore.

This film begins right where the previous one stopped where Katniss wakes up in District 13 where she was taken by rebels after she destroyed the Quarter Quell arena with her arrow. Katniss becomes the symbol of the rebellion by appearing in incendiary promotional advertisements, but Katniss was angry with them because they left her partner Peeta behind at the Capitol.

Jennifer Lawrence is far and away the best performer in this film. Her face is really rich in unspoken emotions. Josh Hutcherson gets to flex some of his acting muscles more in this one as the brainwashed Peeta Mellark. It was good to see old characters played by Woody Harrelson, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Jeffrey Wright and Sam Claflin, though their roles were very limited here. New to the cast, acclaimed actress Julianne Moore is rather one-note in her performance as President Coin.

Dracula Untold - Review (2014)

I've watched this movie with an open mind, intending not to look into the historical facts and just enjoy a good CGI-packed film, that tells the story of my country's most famous ancestor. But I couldn't, I just could. They've went on to use actual names for people and places, that some may think some things are actually true. Absolutely nothing from this movie has to do with reality

Overall, it's an okay movie but failed to live up its potential. Has a few eye candy scenes from Luke Evans, good special effects,good cast but the plot seems rushed and scattered... I didn't care much about historical facts since the dawn of film there's not even 1 vampire movie completely faithful either to history or to literature.

I also think that this movie leaves out too much of the horror aspect, the very aspect from which the Dracula story gained it's fame. There's literally no scary scene and no horrifying imagery to do the horror legacy some justice. This enables the movie to gain a PG-13 rating and reach a wider audience, yet it also quite disappoints the older fans of the Dracula story and the fans of vampire stories in general, especially those who are disenfranchised by the 'de-horroring' of vampires in recent years' teen movies. It's quite unfortunate for me because this movie has so much room for horror aspect. Instead it kind of slowed down the horror tendencies, making the vampire bites a lot less scary with less blood drips or scarier biting moves.

The Maze Runner Rewiew (2014)

I know it's been a very long time since I posted anything or even anything about movie review. And last week i watched this movie. Finally, you don;t know how excited I am for this movie. I was afraid this movie will be another flop with the post apocalypse theme and all. but thank;s God they do good at box office and critics.

The appeal of the The Maze Runner for its billion dollar genre is how straightforward everything it seems. It (thankfully) doesn't begin with a voice-over narration, because indeed it's another high concept that designs a world as a mind-bending game. The film already faults for spilling too much rules and details, but when things starts actually moving, the action becomes marvelous, with large scaled, suspense driven set pieces that easily makes it worth the price admission. The worst of it however is when it finally unfolds all of the hidden secrets, compromising much of the potential of this ride. Still, it's pretty hard to deny the excitement of the experience alone. Treating it as another solid action film might be enough for a while.

Hercules 2014 Review

When I knew The Rock was in this movie, I knew I couldn't take this movie seriously. So, I went to see Hercules with little to no expectations. The main reason was that I needed some cheesy summer flick to laugh at, and the movie's trailer did promise this kind of stuff. Well, the movie did not disappoint - indeed, it was cheesy, but in such a self-aware way, that it falls out of the "so bad that it's good" category and gets into the "simply good" one. Irony is dominant through the whole 98 minutes, and there are plenty of minor and major plot twists, albeit not a single forced one. And the story is delivered in an entertaining way without any unnecessary melodrama or heroism - a nice change from most of Hollywood big-budget action flicks.

Sin City : A Dame To Kill For (2014)

First, I don't like a movie with too much violence. I still dont get it why the hell I chose this movie. I could'nt stand 300 and the first Sin City, so yeah when I watched this I bolted and then back again, stupid me I guess. LOL

A Dame to Kill For is the same type of movie as the first, but it is not executed quite as well. It may just be be cause the style lost some of its original appeal, but I thought it didn't live up to its predecessor. With that said, I still thought A Dame to Kill For was a great time at the movies. Everything about it was solid. It continued the action from the first and did not fail to keep me at the edge of my seat. And, Marv was his normal, b.a. self.

Lucy -- Review (2014)

I have been waiting for this movie for like forever, and finally I watched it last week. I like Scarjo, alot. And I still want The Black Widow to have her own franchise. she is bad ass, she is the most amazing agent in SHIELD. and she is the perfect example of feminist. So when the first time I watched the trailer the first thought that came to my mind was "want it in my eyes, now!"

surprise I kind like it, even some missed the point. But i like it, but just because it's a strong movie about woman. It's a bad ass movie with very good choreographer. My sister loves this movie, because Black widow is in it. lol. Some of the critics who said this is silly movie, I do't understand why. because Luc Besson became very creative? or because it's a movie a bout woman who can take down men easily? Scarlett is very terrific in this movie, she proves it that she can do anything, from action to drama. she is that good. The effect is great, this could be very big movie. But like I said before, they lost the point.

This movie is totally better than what i expected, this fun movie. I was afraid I would be disappinted. But when I finished I like it, it;s not as horrible or as silly as they say it. it's very entertaining. Not everyone can watch this movie without whining and complaining. Not very much thought provoking or complex but you should enjoy it so much. Just watch it.

what I like about this movie is how this movie was on the top gross rating, beat Hercules. I'm happy because woman movie can rule the cinema once again.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (2014)

I watched this movie because my little cousin beg me to accompany him. I don't like the TMNT series, and I don't think something will change my opinion about it. I do love reading reviews before I watch a movie, and I read a lot of bad reviews. That's why i didn't expected this movie to be good or amazing. This movie is for kids, totally for kids just like the last Transformer. Kids will like it, adults will hate it. Back then when I watched Transformer the first time, i really like Michael Bay, he is genius. And ugh, you don't know how much I hate Megan Fox, and I had to sit watching this movie seeing her face as the lead actor. She is the Shia of TMNT. lol

Anyway, I love the turtles, The CGI of the turtles are good. But for the other are blehhh.. Megan Fox is awful in here, not like as if she is good. Sorry, no hating, I know. The story is nothing special, just very normal story. The villain characters are undeveloped. But I love the chemistry between the brothers. And father and sons. It's easy movie, if you want fun and if you want to ask your kids to watch kids movies you should ask you kids, little siblings, or whoever they are to watch this movie. They will enjoy it, and laugh.

Guardians of The Galaxy (2014)

Finally, I have watched Guardians of the Galaxy, a little bit l2p. But hey blame the cinema and Indonesia Distributor. I'm lucky tho, because it's really good!! The wait is worth it. I like it. After tons of Indie movies, I'm going to start writing new movies's reviews. And this weekend I have watched Guardians of the Galaxy, The Expendables 3, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

I always like Marvel, the comics, cartoons, Movies, especially the movies. from X-men to The Avengers. I like them all, now it's Guardians of the Galaxy time. When I first watched the trailer I got excited. But Who doesn't? Before I watched this movie I had this high expectations, and I'm afraid it would be disappointed me. I read too much Marvel geek reviews on reddit. And to be honest I was afraid it would  flop, I mean Captain Americas :The Winter Soldier was on the roll. They got rave reviews. Story, emotions, action were mixed perfectly.

You know, I'm still on the recover stage after seeing this movie. They don't take this movie seriously, and just perfect movie after the dark theme of Thor 2 and Captain America 2. It'is funny and very refreshing movie, totally new level of cinema. In this movie you will see tons a lot of comic characters that you would never expected to see in real action movie. This movie is in my top three Marvel movie list, and I still don't know which one are number one, two, or three. lol.  Quill is kinda remind me of Chris Pine's James Kirk. I don't know why, i feel like they are one person.

I can say this movie and TWS are the best blockbuster of the year. And Dawn of The Planet of Apes , I forgot about that. I love indies, and as much as I love it I can't live without blockbuster movies around me. The CGI is amazing, they definitely gets the Oscar nods. And the humors are witty and fun. I really like this movie. This movie gets everything, the humors, the actions, the characters, and the CGIs are really really good. And after you see the credit, I'm sure you will consider to watch it again. It's that good
