John Wick : Chapter 2 (2017)

Back then I like the first of this movie, when I heard there would a sequel. I am really excited. Okay to begin with this movie is bloody, gore, violent and absolute treat for the action loving cinema-goers(tbh I am not but I just like this movie even tho when te violent scene played I just closed my eyes). The story was pretty good, filled with adrenaline pumped action sequences but most of the moves are repeating and was tiring for me. But couple of action scenes were top notch and you can see the brilliance of action choreo turned director Chad Stahelski. The background score added the toppings. The dialogues were good. The camera-work was exceptional and convincing.

The action scenes are the heart of the movie. The first John Wick was a perfect example of how to do action scenes right. Chapter 2 is exactly like the first. It's perfectly filmed with long takes that are really well made. The subway scene is outstanding. That whole scene is so well done. The humor is just an added bonus to what is John Wick's strongest feature, the action. All the reviews are in agreement that Wick is back with more action than ever imagined, as this one-man army unleashes a storm of well-placed bullets, knife slashing (and sometimes pencil) stand offs.

LOGAN (2017)

So, I haven't updated my blog lately. Real life has been crazy lately,I am  still trying to survive tho. I am going to do a review from some movies I still remember.watched movie here and there but not in a mood to review it. So here I am going to start with Logan.

Can I say this movie is amazing? and can't be beaten easily. The movie revolves an around old, and frustrated Logan (who is a limousine driver). He, along with Charles Xavier (superbly played by Patrick Stewart) are waiting to finish off their lives in peace. It's 2029 and in this new world, where mutants have been exterminated and there are few of them left hiding, Logan is a man adrift in a world that no longer needs him. Caring for his former mentor who he has to control for his own good, he is a man without a true purpose and who is hurrying towards death.

Assassin's Creed (2016)

"Assassin's Creed" gamers may be the only ones who truly appreciate the cinematic adaptation of Ubisoft's popular game franchise. No, I've never played "Assassin's Creed," but I've seen the movie and that's enough for me. While critics are being really, really hard on the film, the movie isn't good either.

You couldn't ask for a more prestigious cast. Michael Fassbender continues to defy typecasting, while Jeremy Irons indulges himself as a malevolent villain in a turtleneck. Marion Cotillard finds herself somewhere between Fassbender and Irons, but her character neglects to grasp the realities of her predicament. Her father and she suffer from a rift that neither want to admit until the climax. Charlotte Rampling and Brendan Gleeson lurk ominously on the periphery. Mind you, you won't find a bad performance. Just bad written characters

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)

I had heard of the 60's television show "The Man from UNCLE", but like most of us under the age of 60, never got the chance to see an episode. I know, I know, there have been countless re-runs, it just never grabbed my attention. I am not familiar with the original show, it was way before my generation. However, with the dark tones of many blockbusters nowadays, it's refreshing to return to a lighter and more vibrant movie in the spy-genre. On top of that with Guy Ritchie directing, known for his witty dialogue and often odd humour, I had to check out his latest effort.

Let me start by saying, this is a good movie. The star of the show is undoubtedly the director, Guy Ritchie and like most film buffs, was more curious than excited about U.N.C.L.E.'s arrival. I was curious to see what Ritchie could do with a television program that has been dead and buried for over fifty years

American Ultra (2015)

This late summer movie 'American Ultra' mixes a good stoner comedy with high octane action with a great cast and some decent laughs throughout. You can add to that a good amount of bloody violence in the second half of things. That all being said, 'American Ultra' seems to lose its steam far from the climax of the movie, and seems to just go through the motions until the end. Still, it's a fun popcorn film to end the summer on. Director Nima Nourizadeh, whose only previous film was the found footage party movie, 'Project X', leaves the hand-held camera on the table here, and delivers some decent long shots of violence and action, which is a step up in his career.

Mike Howell (Jesse Eisenberg) is an everyday small-town stoner, who works a bland job at a market, with the goal of marrying his girlfriend, Phoebe (Kirsten Stewart) but what he doesn't know, is that he's actually an experiment conducted by a CIA agent named Victoria Lasseter (Connie Britton) and that the CIA has put out a hit on him. With lots of time and money invested in Howell, Lasseter goes out to his little town and "activates" him, turning him into a stone-cold killer. But while he's the perfect killer, he's also a sweet guy who just wants to be with his girlfriend. Phoebe Larson (Stewart) didn't add much to the plot, but she was very believable as Mike's (Eisenberg) girlfriend. There was never a moment when the audience didn't believe they were dating. Although Kristen Stewart still hasn't proved she can act extremely well and she can be funny and all.

Sicario (2015)

Sicario is a completely engrossing, beautifully shot, terrifically acted thriller that exceeds expectations. I didn't know what to expect from this film, but I was surprised that from the opening shot the film had me hooked. As much as I hate to say this I have to, this film isn't for everybody. The trailers are rather misleading as I was expecting, the film is good if you give it your patience because it will be slow and "boring" for some so you have been warned. As far as my experience I can say that this film threw my heartbeat off by the end, there were times where it gets unbelievably tense and I can say that it made my heart skip a beat at a couple moments.

The Transporter Refueled (2015)

Is it a reboot or a sequel, who knows, the film never gives you any reason to care either way, what a piece of garbage. I quite liked the earlier Transporter films, I think the main attraction there though was the pure awesome that is Jason Statham, no such presence here. If your going to try replace Jason Statham you better go out and find the biggest badass you can find, not this guy. Ed Skrein is pretty terrible in this, I don't even think he's that bad of an actor, he's just too much of a pretty boy, he does his best to look and act tough and that's exactly how it comes off, as acting. He looks like he's trying for his best Jason Statham impersonation and it's a big fail.

While Jason Statham might not possess incredible acting, he's a great fit for Transporter. He looks suave and confident, more importantly he looks capable in action sequences. Ed Skrein only amounts to carbon copy lookalike with accent.

Mission Impossible V (2015)

So I have finally found a time to go to cinema in the middle of very busy internship schedule that drives me insane. But that's another story, so today now i have finally watched Mission Impossible 5. Having seen the previous four 'Mission Impossible' films, I have to admit that none of them impressed me to the degree that I had hoped. I guess my expectations for action thrillers centering on secret agents were set too high because I saw the 'Bourne' trilogy and Daniel Craig's James Bond films first. The first three 'MI' films all seemed a little too slow, cheesy or convoluted on my first viewing. The fourth one was pretty good, even if the story does feel a little forgettable.

The central focus of Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation revolves around a mystery group called the "Syndicate" who basically work like an anti-IMF, with a sole focus of spreading terrorist attacks around the world, while working to establish a sense of new world order and overseeing the dismantling of the real IMF. Besides this group standing in their way, Ethan and his crew must also deal with Director Alan Hunley (played brilliantly by Alec Baldwin) who is bound and determined to think that Ethan is crazy and that the Syndicate is just in his imagination. Because of his doubts with Ethan, Hunley brings up his concerns to the oversight committee and it is decided that after the events of Ghost Protocol, which saw landmarks like the Russian Kremlin destroyed, that the IMF be dissolved effective immediately.

Hot Pursuit (2015)

Two people, one car, and what do we get? Lots of trouble! I've examined the road trip comedy before as at least two or three of these movies are released every year. We get a lot of these road trip movies all the time because this is something we have all gone through; the long stretch that never seems to end, the music that eventually becomes monotonous and the fact your going to loathe the people your riding with. Our transportation technology may have changed but the concept of a car trip has and will never go out of style. This is why we end up finding so much material for comedic possibilities.

What makes thins kind of story work is what kind of pairing that is going to be tackled upon. With movies like Vacation and We're the Millers, we've had a typical family. With The Guilt Trip and Sideways, we have groups of friends. Even with Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Smokey and the Bandit, we set with people that hate each other from the start. All of these movies were able to develop dialogue that made the situation funny. All of these would be better road trip movies to watch then the astonishingly bad Hot Pursuit.

Spy (2015)

I was really surprised by "Spy." I was surprised because it's billed as a comedy, and I actually laughed out loud, and there was laughter in the theater throughout the film. I can't remember the last time I went to see a new release comedy and that happened. The humor in "Spy" is surprisingly gentle and light hearted. That's surprising because the filmmakers apparently felt it was necessary to build a violent, obscene movie around jokes that a ten-year-old could enjoy while watching the movie with her grandmother.

I thought this movie was fantastic, it started solid with some really good jokes but once Susan (Melissa McCarthy)finds her confidence then so does the movie. The jokes come fast and mostly hit the target. The supporting cast were superb, especially Statham who sends up not just every character he has played since snatch but basically every bad ass macho man we have seen since the 80's.

Tomorrowland (2015)

First of all, I had greater hopes by entering this movie that George Clooney was going to kill it in the Sci-Fi movie genre, unfortunately I was disappointed. He didn't seem to fit the role, I don't know why, honestly he seemed to be a little sloppy and unfit physically, plus his performance I can see that he tried his best, but his character did not just fill that major role in the movie. Maybe a more younger actor, would have fitted the role better and speaking of actors.

Tomorrowland is visually very appealing. You can sense that a lot of attention has been given to details like the uniforms, people and technology of the future. It is pretty believable and makes you want to be a part of the story. Credits to the composer for the accompanying soundtrack. Even though you get the feeling that you have heard it in other movies before it goes well with the cinematography and the story line.  The biggest strength of Tomorrowland is its unique and compelling plot. It's a very fresh idea and you're constantly engaged to know what will happen next. It is packed with a surprising amount of action sequences and something that you'd probably not expect from a PG movie targeted primarily at kids.

Mad Max : Fury Road (2015)

Mad max is the most insane, yet perfectly executed movie I have ever seen.

Mad Max Fury Road is an add on to Goerge Millers Mad Max franchise. Goerge Miller also directed this film, and gave us one of the most insane, yet perfect movies...ever. The entire length of the film your eyes are glued to the screen, and your jaw is glued to the floor. The action sequences are brilliant, and over the top. This movie is practically all one action sequence. There isn't much plot, but there isn't a need for one. The action sequences are executed perfectly. The special affects were not only spectacular but also moving. Every angle, the atmosphere, the car chases, and then there is the storm. During a car chase a giant dust storm appears,and the action continues inside the storm. Lightning, explosions, and slow motion kills, make this one of the best scenes I have ever seen in a movie.

Furious 7 (2015)

Best of all in the series !!!! I'm the fan of the series. I only saw the first one and the last 3 movies. but so far it was the best


You know what's more surprising than there's seven of these? The fact that they got better! Especially the last two movies, which are both very well directed action movies. Here James Wan - well known for The Conjuring and the Insidious films - is taking over the direction. I was truly excited for Furious 7 and it is actually a lot of fun: it is a big unrealistic good time with cars flying out of air planes using parachutes, explosions, fist fights and there are all great things! 

Ridiculous, over the top, cheesy, cliche and somehow fantastic, Furious 7 is another very very fun installment in the franchise. It's crazy how Five, Six, and now 7 are all considered the best installments. How often can you get quality films 5, 6, and 7 movies deep? The dialogue is a bit stilted at times, and there are moments when the CGI Paul Walker is pretty noticeable, but for the most part, this is a very well-done film. 

The film begins kind of bland, giving us the introductory information on the new villain, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). Shaw is the highly-skilled assassin whose younger brother was severely injured by the Fast family in the sixth film. He is out for vengeance against Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew, and he won't slow down until he takes care of business. In comes the hot-shot director of a secret agency, played excellently by Kurt Russell, who informs Dom of a surveillance device called "God's Eye" that can find anyone and would be used for injustice if in the wrong hands. By telling Dom he can use the device to find Shaw, he convinces the alpha and his team to obtain "God's Eye," leading to a series of car chases, fight scenes, and the usual fair from these films. 

Insurgent (2015)

Insurgent, based on the second book in the science fiction series of young-adult novels by Veronica Roth, takes us back days after the events of the first film. Divergent director Neil Burger is replaced by Robert Schwentke and so are the screenwriters. It's too early to say if this was a bad move, and again, it doesn't matter. Here's why: Insurgent is basically a rehash of Divergent but with added visual effects and a bit more violence than expected in a YA film. In other words, if you've missed the first film, Schwentke brings you up to speed with the post-apocalyptic remains of a dystopian Chicago. Tris (Shailene Woodley) is haunted by the massacre of her parents. Along with her boyfriend and instructor Four (Theo James), brother Caleb (Ansel Elgort) and fellow survivor Peter (Miles Teller), Tris must do all she can to outrun, outgun and ultimately outsmart forces sent by main antagonist Jeanine (Kate Winslet).

The movie is good if you haven't read the book. I am really disappointing and OK, I know the book is always better than the movie, but the first one was almost the same as a book (perfect movie it was). This one, however, was not. I think I like the first director more because this one throw out some really important scenes and the end is a lot different and I hate thing that the relationship between Tris and Four in the movie is perfect but in the book it has its ups and downs. This movie has a lot of special effect that gave a headache. The first one was perfect adaption, but now, just MEHH

Run All Night (2015)

Run all night starring Liam Neeson and Joel Kinneman. the story revolves around a mob hit-man named Jimmy Conlan and his son Micheal ( Michael lives a peaceful life with his family with apparently no connection to his hit-man father. Working as a Limo driver, he is caught in the wrong place at the wrong time witnessing a brutal murder involving the mob his father is affiliated with. With a hit out on his son, Jimmy must choose between his long time partner and his son who resents him.

The story is well told, and I was pleasantly surprised with how suspenseful this story is. I usually think these liam neeson roles are completely cheesy, but I like the chemistry between him and Joel Kinneman, InfactI would say Joel outshined him and only enhanced the Neesons character development. you could really feel the hatred he had for his father and how much he hated having to rely on the one person who was not there for him.

Kingsman : the Secret Service (2015)

When I saw the trailer for this movie, I was excited for it, because it was from the director of X- Men: First Class. People are also saying that it is a tribute to classic spy films (mainly the James Bond movies of the past), and judging by the posters, it pretty much is trying to be. Now, after seeing the movie, what do I think about it? Let's find out.

The plot of Kingsman: The Secret Service starts out by showing us a Kingsman secret agent dying during a mission. After that, Harry Hart, another Kingsman secret agent, visits the agent's widow and their son, Gary "Eggsy" Unwin to give them a medal with a phone number on the back. He tells Eggsy and his mother that if they need any help, then all they need to do is to dial the number and use a special message.

The acting is great from the ensemble cast. Colin Firth, does a great job, carrying charm and wit to his character. Newcomer, Taron Egerton also carries a lot of charm and wit to his character. Samuel L. Jackson is very charismatic and bad ass as the villain. Even though his act was more a parody, Samuel Jackson was up there with the best Bond villains, weaving a colorful archetype of a man who thinks he's doing what's best for the world in what turned out to be a very cleaver, over the top plot. Aided by a cool henchmen, with blades on her prosthetic limbs, it makes you wonder what would happen if he went heat-to-head with Roger Moore. The supporting work from Michael Caine, and Mark Strong, are also great with the limited material that they work with. Overall, the cast is great and all look like that they are having fun in their roles.

Blackhat (2015)

I really wanted to like this movie. A hacking thriller on an international scale -- what a hot subject that is great to bring to the silver screen! Throw in some Chris Hemsworth and I'm in! I was a huge fan of Hackers in the 90s and was really excited to see what a 2015 blockbuster and director would bring to a story that is straight from today's headlines!

Set in the world of Global Cybercrime, Blackhat follows a convict (played by Chris Hemsworth) and some American Chinese partners as they hunt a high level cybercrime network from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta. Blackhat is so bad from the first minute its hard to even begin with this movie. I wanted to leave the entire time.

Spoiler here we get to see really two hacks in this movie and don't get me wrong these two types of hacks are used a lot and have a lot of success. But the first hack we see is a phishing attack on an NSA Cyber Security person. Hathaway sends the man an email from his supervisor telling him he needs to change his password due to him having dealt with the U.S./Chinese team and the email has a short cut to change his password. Guess what he does? Yep. Clicks the link which happens to be hiding a keylogger in it which grants Hathaway access to the system the team needs to put some information together.

Hobbit : Battle of Five Armies

I know it's been a very long time since I posted something. I just finished my exam and all. Yay for me. So let's start with Hobbit III

"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" is the final chapter of Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" trilogy, and this particular film tells the last three or so chapters of J.R.R. Tolkien's book of the same name.

For those who are fans of the book, one thing that will quickly stand out is that the movie takes great liberty with the book, inasmuch as Peter Jackson has made an entire feature length film out of a story that was told in a relatively succinct fashion by Tolkien. Jackson's work expounds on the story that Tolkien left us with, going into much more detail with character development and the story of the battle of the armies itself in this film.

That being said, though, the movie does all of this in a way that is true to the original source material. I didn't feel as though I was watching something that was untrue to Tolkien, but instead a movie that was made to put meat on the skeleton of a story that Tolkien had left us with in the final chapters of "The Hobbit".

John Wick - review

This is a welcome surprise. Who would have thought Keanu could play such a cool character with that much conviction? He does a perfect job here, displaying the right attitude and making sure every shot hits its target. It's all very simple. He's a grieving widower, and one arrogant and spoiled jerk comes and messes with him. By doing so, Wick is forced out of retirement because someone has decided to ruin his late wife's legacy.

First of all, if you don't like violent, revenge driven crime dramas, this movie is not for you, so don't post about it. If you are like 80% of the rest of the world, you are going to LOVE this movie. Slick editing and direction make it beautiful to watch. Incredible choreography make it fun, and Keanu makes it real!

I am not a big Reeves fan but you do not have to be to enjoy this film. Unique fight scenes and a talented supporting cast made this film a treat. This is a film to enjoy on the big screen. Music selection also made various scenes more enjoyable. Just a well groomed picture with a load energy and smart dialog. You will not be disappointed.

Fury - Review (2014)

I watched this movie on midnight show last Saturday. I'm very curious about this movie. Brad Pitt in colaboration with David Ayer and those young Hollywood stars. Even though there have been tons of films that told the story of world war 2 in different ways. However this was the first one in my opinion that captured the brutality of war bad showing how it effects not used to dealing with the first hand experience that comes with the violence of war.

The acting here is great from everyone. I think that the standout of the entire cat is Brad Pitt. He gives a very strong performance and his character is very commanding and is one of those characters who never gives up. Logan Lerman also does a great job playing Norman and his character is one that doesn't want to kill people, but he does it, because it is necessary. Jon Bernthal, Michael Pena, Jason Issacs, and Scott Eastwood all deliver great performances as well. Even Shia Labouf is great in this film. The cast also share some great chemistry between each other.
