Golden Globe Award Winners 2017: The Complete List

Sunday night's Golden Globe awards was all about La La Land, with Damien Chazelle's L.A.-set musical winning a record seven awards. But a number of other multiple nominees weren't as lucky. Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea, which went into the evening with six and five nominations each, respectively, only one won award apiece. To be fair, the prizes they did take home were big ones: best motion picture drama for Moonlight and best actor in a motion picture drama for Manchester's Casey Affleck. Experts had Moonlight also winning either best supporting actor (Mahershala Ali) or best screenplay, with Manchester tapped as the nominee that should win for screenplay and best motion picture drama.

Okay, like I said it always been more than a year since my last post. And I will start it with 2017 Golden Globes Nominations. There was lots of love for La La Land and Moonlight from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Some might agree, some might not (because I do think about that as well) Some even laughable and mind blowing. Here it is the full list

Pitch Perfect 2 (2015)

Okay, so let me just start by saying that I LOVED Pitch Perfect and have been dying to see this sequel but, for me, it just didn't live up to the first one.

One of the weaknesses for me was the storyline, or more accurately, the lack of storyline. I saw the first one as being about a girl whose a little unusual, finding herself at university at her father's request and bizarrely feeling completely at home around a group of girls who are all equally strange and different from each other, with a backdrop of some killer tunes and quirky comedy. However, this film didn't really seem to know what it was focusing on.

I was anticipating for the sequel for Pitch Perfect, I basically can't wait for it to be out in my local cinema. This sequel is a little disappointing to watch as it has quite some cliché story lines. The plot aren't as solid and some of the movie parts are chunky, it doesn't has a smooth transition to it.

The Last Five Year (2015)

Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan do the best they can with this film. It's not a bad film per se, but it jumps around a lot in the story which can make it hard to follow at times. I get why they did it. To show contrast between the high points in their relationship vs the low points. However, as I said it isn't always easy to follow, plus some of them don't make sense.

I am going to be honest in general avoid films that are 95% singing .At all costs. I started watching the last five years without the knowledge it was mostly singing and almost turned it off when Anna Kendrick started singing the opening song. and I am glad I didn't turn it off. although the film had its flaws I did enjoy watching it.

Song One (2014)

Fresh off her Oscar winning performance and infamous on screen haircut in Les Miserables, Anne Hathaway stars in this infinitely smaller film from writer/director Kate Barker-Froyland. A Sundance Film Festival entry, the movie winds through the clubs, coffee shops and second hand stores that make up the indie music scene in northern Brooklyn.

Ben Rosenfield ("Boardwalk Empire") plays Henry, the kind of musician so enamored with his own folk sound that he is willing to play for pocket change in the subway tunnels. Failing to adhere to mother rule #1, Henry pays the price for not looking both ways prior to crossing a street in front of a New York cabbie. Next thing we know, he is comatose in a hospital bed. Henry's mom (Mary Steenburgen) beckons wayward daughter Franny (Anne Hathaway) home from her worldly pursuit of a Ph.d in Anthropology.

The Nicholas Sparks-like teary tropes are there: For instance, her folk singing brother, Henry (Ben Rosenfield), is in a coma while her mother (Mary Steenburgen) is eccentric and Franny (Hathaway) has been estranged from her and her brother . Enter heartthrob folksinger James Forester (Johnny Flynn), who sings sexy naturalistic songs and wins doctoral candidate Franny's heart.

Into the Woods (2014)

"Into the Woods" intermingles the fairy tales of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Red Riding Hood in a complex but fairly deftly plotted meta-fairy tale. A bewitched baker must bring back an item out of each fairy tale so that his wife may conceive, along the lines of the Sondheim musical.

Meryl Streep is superb as the witch. She symbolizes all the mothers who can't let their children grow up and leave the house, keeping Rapunzel locked in a tower and the young prince at bay for as long as she can. Rapunzel happens to be the baker's young sister, stolen by Streep as a baby to exact revenge on the baker's father, who visited her garden one night and made off without spilling the beans. But when did Meryl do a bad thing in movie? BUT when you say Meryl wont do a bad, this is her due. This movie imo is not good. Doesnt mean its not watchable.

"Into the Woods" is wordy and boring. It's a fairy tale story, so we expect something breezy and entertaining, not something existential and overbearing. As much as you can appreciate how Lapine and Sondheim have challenged the notion of fairy tales by turning them around on the audience, at some points it just gets boring. The film's third act, when "happily ever after" gets turned on its head, for example, is a test of patience, even though without it, the story would have no meaning and the film would therefore become artistically pointless.

Across The Universe(2007)

I miss this movie, I think this is the first movie, I watched it by my self. the first movie that made me curious about movie festival. Because this was the first  I knew about Toronto International Film festival ( I was 7th Grade). Since that year I was obsessed with indie movies. And because of this movie I watched the award race for the first time. And it was very fun year. everything was very fresh for me. 2007 was the year of really good movies. And I chose the best year, and I'm very proud of it. I'm luck I have watched all of the movie from 2007. because yeah, everybody says 2007 was the best year of movies in last 10 years. from Into The Wild to Atonement. And I remember I watched Oscar for the first and i felt the excitement of it. Really really good memories.

Back to the movie. i like this movie, In my opinion this movie is very fresh and creative. This movie was all about The Beatles. I don't call my self as The Beatles fan, but I like their songs. and I have all of their albums. I have much older friends back then. So I watched this movie because of them. they like The Beatles, my dad loves The Beatles. So i tried to watch it. this movie was nominated for Golden Globe.
