2015 Cannes Film festival Winners

The 68th annual Cannes Film Festival is officially a wrap. At today's closing ceremony, the main competition jury, led by Joel and Ethan Coen, awarded the Palme d'Or to Jacques Audiard for his drama "Dheepan." "Son of Saul," the acclaimed Holocaust drama from first-time filmmaker Laszlo Nemes, won the Grand Prix (runner-up) award. Below find the full list of winners.

2015 Cannes Film Festival

ITS CANNES TIME!! One of my favorite film festival because of that majesty stairs I want to kiss. lol. After Sundance, Berlinale, SXSW, and now tribeca Film festival. It's time for Cannes to annouce their list. My favoritelady Ingrid Bergman was chosen as the poster lady. amazing

The 68th annual Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to be held from 13 to 24 May 2015. Joel and Ethan Coen have been announced as the Presidents of the Jury for the main competition. It's the first time that two people will chair the jury. Since the Coen brothers will each get a separate vote, they will be joined by seven other jurors to form the customary nine-juror panel. French actor Lambert Wilson has been announced as the host for the opening and closing ceremonies.

Lost River (2015)

Lost River marks the directorial and writing debut of Ryan Gosling and stars Christina Hendricks, Iain De Caestecker, Matt Smith and Ben Mendelsohn. This is one of the weirdest film I've ever experienced in my life. It's introduced as a Fantasy but some aspect of this film such as the setting: this fictional Detroit feels so real. This movie doesn't make any sens; for the most part it is not cohesive, the narrative structure is flawed and broken but the images, the cinematography and the score are all great and thoughts provoking.

Ryan Gosling directing in the movie was meh, and the whole time I noticed he worked on the visuals and the look of the movie which by the looks great but still I felt the focus was only on that and not the whole film, I might be wrong or not. Being an actor that many people like the easiest thing for Gosling would've been to direct a mainstream film, but I give him credit for trying to make an artistic film that will be appreciated by a select group of people.

The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them (2014)

I have been waiting for this movie since 2013 TIFF. The plot looks good, I love angsty love story. and They have Queen Chastain and McAvoy in one film. Written and directed by Benson, "Them" crafts an emotional and passionate tale of love lost, regained, and ultimately doomed to exist. Almost taking cues from films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Benson offers up an honest and raw interpretation of love in the shadow of tragedy. Likely not his first choice in which to tell his story, he takes a meticulous paintbrush and strokes through every part of the film with intricate detail, choosing what and what not to tell the audience.

The negative aspect of the film, the audience never acquires an understanding of how this event created two very unhappy people. The only glimpse I receive of their suffering is at the beginning when Eleanor tries to kill herself by jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge. The movie transitions from utter happiness in the opening scene to a suicide attempt hence the sudden mood change. From there on it is downhill with the occasional hope of a happy ending unfortunately never fulfilling though.

Sils Maria (2014)

this movie was a big hit in Cannes maybe because they have Juliette Binoche (as much as I know she is France sweetheart) Kristen Stewart and Chloe Moretz who have their own fandom, and big big fandom. So I got this special opportunity to watch this movie on film festival last week. I was so happy since I can't wait to see it with my own eyes. As a fan of Stewart, hearing good reviews about her in this movie made me want to see it even more.

This was a good movie, to a large extent because of its lead actors. I expected Juliette Binoche and Kristen Stewart to make a great team, and they did; there was never a moment when I thought one of them was out-acting the other, or drawing attention from the other. They worked in perfect tandem as far as I could see. But the movie is too long. I like the cinematography, Sils Maria is such a beautiful place.

I love Juliette when plays as a desperate woman. Well she does everything great. In this movie she played as a veteran actress with her own personal problem, and then new director asked her to do a remake based on a movie that made her famous. but as the opposite character. The base is great, I mean Maria had their own problems and it would make a strong story but they add more conflict in to it that included Chloe Moretz's character, Joanne Ellis.

Winter sleep (2014)

Winter sleep. Finally I’ve watched this movie, this movie won Palm d’Or awards at Cannes this year. Winter Sleep is a masterpiece by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, a film shining with literary eloquence and incisive social criticism.  Most of movie scenes happened inside village houses, a lot of talking between character. It tells a story, with an old actor turned into hotel owner, his young wife, other villager who are his tenants, different people have their own social character.

This is the kind of film where not much happens, but your jaw drops at every scene because Ceylan has filmed reality better than most of us live it. It is honestly quite scary. Most of our lives mutter on without us ever reflecting on it, properly anyway, because we don't really get the chance. However, when you watch Winter Sleep you can see a part of yourself in pretty much every character. You understand every person's actions in the film and there is no greater exemplification that, at least between the three main characters, the line of good and bad is ever so blurred. Everyone has their reasons, everyone has good intentions, but yet people just cannot get along harmoniously because they are naturally different.

Winter Sleep is a film that I respect massively, I probably have to say though, that I respect it more than what I actually enjoyed it. It's a huge, colossal film that nearly owns it's two hundred minutes, even if it was way too much for my numbing back and drained energy. It's a film that will surely only be appreciated by a small amount of people, Nuri Bilge Ceylan has gained in me a follower but I don't believe he will make many friendships with main audiences who will soon discard such a long, slowly paced Turkish drama. It is a challenging film that ultimately rewards its audience with some powerful images and palpable strain. The audience in the theater seemed to be in awe, me I was simply left satisfied and with a huge respect for the piece.

Map To The Stars (2014)

Cronenberg's movies, blahh.. Not a big fan of him and his movie. So why did I watch the movie? Because Julianne Moore got the Best Actress award at Cannes Film Festival this year.

This movie is about how fuck up Hollywood are. yeah, the place I really want to work in is fuck up. I know it. With no short of brilliance, the entire cast ignites some of their finest and most compelling works of their careers. It starts obviously with another powerhouse turn by four-time Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore. As "Havana Segrand," an actress dying for a big comeback, Moore illustrates her most vibrant and fruitful interpretation since "Cathy Whitaker" in Far from Heaven. Ferocious, daring, and completely involved, there's no other actress like Julianne Moore on this cinematic planet. Too good for words.

John Cusack and Olivia Williams are a match made in cinema hell, which secretly means heaven. Two people who are despicable together, the pair play insanely well off each other, showcasing luscious movements that all ring true. The young Evan Bird will have all of us learning his name by end credits. Mia is amazing and her creepiness match this movie. I love her.

The Homesman - Review (2014)

I haven't posted anything for a week. very busy week and I;m too lazy to go online and writing. And finally Sunday. I watched many drama movie this week. I LOVE IT. No more action movies since it;s getting closer to award season.

so I;m going to write the movie about The Homesman first. This is very iinterestingmovie with a lot of big names. And my queen Hillary Swank is in the lead. I was very excited about this movie before Cannes with great casts and all. But when i watched I was disappointed. I don't why, maybe because I put too much expectation. It could be really big movies. And I think it proves me again, even thought we have awards winning stars in movie that doesn';t always mean the movie is going to be great. because Homesman prove it to me.

Only Lovers Left Alive review (2013)

My favorites were int his movie. Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowsa, Anton Yelchin. So why not? the movie sounds creepy at first. with those creepy stars it makes it more and more interesting. Only Lovers Left Alive is kind of an anti-vampire movie. It embraces aspects of the vampire genre like how vampires can't go out in sunlight, have super fast reflexes, and live forever. However, it moves away from some of the silly aspects. Jim Jarmusch does a good job of setting up how a vampire could survive in the world. He takes his time and shows us instead of tells us

As a matter of fact, rarely does one find a film with such romantic awareness about the world coming to an end. It is as if the film knew it was the last love film on Earth. The narrative is definitely lacking in certain areas and when you consider Only Lovers Left Alive is a movie about vampires, we expect more than we end up with, in respect to bloodsucker behaviour, but what saves this film more than a little are the brilliant performances by our main two, Adam and Eve, Anton Yelchin's Ian, and the short but destructive appearance from Eve's sister Ava (Mia Wasikowska).

The Rover (2014)

I'm curious about this movie, this movie was one of the movie that got good reviews and buzz, maybe because the former Edward Cullen was here. I was Twilight fam, eventhought O'm more Kristen Stewart fan. But i;m curious about those big franchise actors after the franchise is over. Daniel Radcliffe did great, Emma Watson is more on working to get critical acclaims, and Ruper Grint he was on Ed Sheeran video clip lol. Keira did an amazing job, Orlando is being Orlando, etc, etc. And now I'm on the watch of Twilight former stars.

So Cannes this year, this movie was made last year, with David Michod directed it (Animal Kingdom) and Guy Pearce (Brad Pitt's look alike with very underrated reviews. Trust me Mr Pearce is amazing actor). Reading the synopsis it feels like Mad Max, the after apocalypse movie based on the dessert on Australia, and the newest Mad Max will release next year.

The story is about the guy who lose everything he once loved, and the only thing he has is his car, and when someone stole it he met the robber. It's very intense story. I can't stand the violence in this movie. It's not my cup of tea, I love drama, but it's too dramatic. my father loves this movie.

By dramatic I don't mean over dramatic. David Michod is very brave to tell this story but IMO there is very little dialogue and I don;t like it. I;m the queen of quoting movies.  Like I said before too many violence, and I think it's unnecessary. This movie has great character (Eric and Rey) it's about their journey, I wish they will stay to it. I love the building characters of Eric and Rey. And how the relationship grow into something. first they are enemy and then they before this awkward partner. The story it self is interesting, not as good as Animal Kingdom but definitely worth watching

Do I like the movie? not really. But it's not my cup of tea. I like the characters more. This movie has good scenery. The story is interesting if you like western post apocalypse movie you should watch this movie.

Grace of Monaco Review (2014)

Last year, when I heard about this movie I was so excited. I want to watch this movie. And when I heard the buzz that this movie would open Cannes 2014 made more and more excited. Directed by Olivier Dahan, the director behind La Vi en rose. Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly. Everything sounded great at first. And then here we had Cannes. Sad, they booed this movie at Cannes. Bad and negative reviews everywhere.

The problem with this movie is how they pushed it so hard. So we were really curious about it, we wanted to see it so bad. We love La Vi en rose. I love La Vie en rose. So of course I expected something like that. The problem with the overall story is that the relationship between Grace and the Prince isn't all that interesting. They actually spend little time with one another, due to the Prince's absorption with the crisis. There's a confusing sub-plot involving the Prince's sister, who appears to have betrayed Monaco, by passing state secrets to the French (having only seen the film once, I'm not exactly sure of what she was guilty of). The film's scenarists solution is to have Grace decide to conform to the Prince's wishes, by giving up her rebellious streak, and embracing her traditional role as dutiful wife and consort. Hence, considerable time is spent tracking Grace's movements in Paris, while on a big shopping spree.
