Spongebob : Sponge Out Of Water (2015)

I was a big fan of the show when i was younger and would watch it every morning before school, so i went into this film expecting to see the same type of humour that made the show so great. And this film captured the overall tone of the show and really felt like a long episode. Now, this film is definitely for kids now and those who watched it when they were younger, I would think not too many other people would enjoy it as much if you weren't familiar with the original show.

When a diabolical pirate above the sea played by Antonio Banderas, steals the secret Krabby Patty formula, SpongeBob and his nemesis Plankton must team up in order to get it back. SpongeBob Sponge Out of Water was for me a pleasant surprise while watching the film. I didn't had much expectations for the movie, but i have to say i was pleasantly surprised. The movie had a good mix between classic cartoon style and CG. When i first saw the trailer i thought the film would be nothing but CG spongebob characters.

It's fun, plain and simple. The children in the audience we're giggling with delight, the adults found humor enough to laugh, and all in all I appreciated the blatant references to movies like Mad Max, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and The Shining. It's a movie that is directed at children, but is enriched with plenty of adult humor in the form of puns and famous movies references.

Antonio Banderas as the villain was surprisingly enjoyable. Now normally when big names actors do these kids movie just for money and nothing else, not even trying in they role, but here is totally different I mean was Antonio Banderas actually put effort in his character and that's why his character was a enjoyable and fun villain.

Spongebob: Sponge out of Water is wild ride that is sure to entertain kids and adults. It's a fun picture that is well made for the most part and lives up to the show. If they had of kept it straight animated like the show and got rid of some stupid characters that don't fit, it could've been better. However, the characters are fun and the story is full of many many laughs that will make you rock in your seat and have a good time.
