So basically I got very curious with people around me talking about this so I wanna join te hype by watching this. Granted, the movie is visually stunning. The costumes in this movie are gorgeous save for that godawful prom dress Watson wears during the ball room scene. The scenery is also very lovely to look at and the CGI is decent. The only issue I had with the CGI was Mrs. Potts. She was not charming, she was creepy. Why couldn't they make her look decent? Everything else was fine save for her.
I love Emma Watson but she was a complete miscast. She has this very serious looks and I imagine Belle should be this this quirky and lively small town girl. As predicted, her voice has been largely manipulated in post. And considering that Walt Disney himself made such a big deal out of the musical production in all of his movies.
I'll give credit where it's due, the movie is really gorgeous. And the actors playing the servants are all fantastic. In fact, I think they're the best part of the movie to be honest. Luke Evans is hilarious as Gaston and Josh Gad was a fantastic Le Fou. The music was decent
Also, the romance between her and Beast never feels realized. It seems like the Beast cares more about Belle. The beast I think was a miscast too though, after he transforms at the end you'll find something just looks and feels awkward and not very Prince like about him.
One major problem was mostly in regards of how it tries to lengthen the story and how it also somehow drains it of what made it so good in the first place. And the second problem the leads were miscast Watson is far too earnest for Belle and a lot of her line delivery is forced. Stevens often looks stiff and uncomfortable as Beast, being very cheaply made up, and his eyes look dead. Beast was a fascinating character before but has been stripped of his complexity and soul. The chemistry between them, something that would have made or broken the film, isn't there.
Overall I really want to like this movie like everyone in my timeline (especially IG) but tbh not impress with this movie and rather bored while watching it. Sure the CGI and costume were amazing and mesmerizing. Love the soundtrack as well and the comedy was refreshing. It was an Ok movie tho, it's nice to watch and they really did a nice marketing for this movie.
